February 11, 2009
Acting Chairperson Lucien Langlois called a work session meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners to order at 12:00 noon. Commissioners present were Paul Poulin, Robert Delisle and ex-officio member Mayor Bertrand. Absent from this meeting was Chairperson Richard Fournier. Also present were Superintendent Roland Viens, Craig Carrigan, Steve Lefebvre, Lynne Lessard, Debbie Page and Debbie Baillargeon.
The Board discussed the proposed rate structure change. The proposed water structure is based on a mathematical formula and best fits with the current charges for water. The assessment is based on a fixed amount with an additional amount of $3.00 per 100 cubic feet, a system similar to Gorham Water Department. The state mean average is 3400 cubic feet and with the proposed rate structure change there would be an increase of 13.59% for this amount of cubic feet of water with the new assessment and water rate structure.
The Board asked the Superintendent to inquire with the State to find out if we need a public hearing when the rate structure is changed without an increase.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, it was moved by Mr. Poulin, seconded by Mayor Bertrand, with all in favor to adjourn this meeting.
The meeting did so adjourn at 1:15 PM.
ATTEST: Paul Poulin, Clerk of the Board
